A: A little piece of nature in an urban enviroment.
A MiniNature Reserve is a garden full of locally native plants in an urban setting installed, maintained, and utilized by volunteers and community members. The goals are to:
-
beautify neglected spaces
-
create habitat for pollinators and songbirds
-
provide more equitable access to nature
-
conserve plant and animal species threatened by urbanization including endangered species
-
reignite human interdependency with nature through communal stewardship of our local ecosystem under Indigenous leadership
Plants and seeds are harvested for a multitude of our other programs including:
-
Food, Culture, Laidback: Chumash Cooking Demonstration and Q&A
